Introducing the new Zentier Chronograph - "1903"

Why "1903" you may ask! Well, I'm glad you asked.

In the year 1900 the famous American billionaire Gordon Bennett Jr. established a car race between Paris and Lyon in France. Each country participating in the race were required to drive a car manufactured in the country for which it would race. Furthermore the car had to be painted in one of the colours from the country's national flag. The nation who won the race would get host the race the following year.

In 1902 Britain entered the race for the first time, but with one small problem. The colours of its flag — red, white and blue — were already taken by America, Germany and France, respectively.

As a result Britain decided to go with green as the colour of their car, inspired by the English rail road locomotives. A lucky choice it seemed, as Britain ended up winning that year, bringing the Gordon Bennett Cup to Britain for the following year.

Unfortunately, 1903 was the year that motor racing was made illegal in Britain and therefore the famous Gordon Bennett Cup had to be relocated to Ireland, who luckily welcomed it with open arms.

As a tribute to Ireland, Britain painted its cars to match the colour of the Emerald Isle, also known as Ireland- a deep emerald green colour which later became known as "BRG" or "British Racing Green"

But this is where "cars" end and "watches" begin. 

The enamel dial with its depth, subtle shine and mesmerising green colour makes for a stunning looking dial - almost changing the shade of green under various light conditions. 

The green colour combined with the applied steel hour markers, white indexes, and the big white seconds hand, creates a beautiful contrast within the dial. 

It is a watch which tells more than "just" time - it tells a story, a watchmaking story. 

The design is based around elegance and simplicity while at the same time holding the highly complicated function of the chronograph. The watch has three sub dials (24-hour indicator at "3", running seconds at "6" and the chronograph minute counter at "9")

Each element is carefully designed and combined to achieve just the right balance of inherited character and modern simplicity.

The watch features angled lugs, square rounded pushers and a large crown,  often associated with historically prominent vintage chronographs.

This watch is a timeless classic looking watch with a modern simplicity to it, making it the perfect timepiece for the modern gentleman.
